Situated at the corner of Silverbrook and Hooes roads, the Durga Temple is the largest Hindu temple in the Northern Virginia, Washington D.C. and Maryland area. According to Sharvan K. Verma, the temple manager, followers of Hinduism have come to the temple from West Virginia, Delaware, New York and even California. "This temple meets the needs of everyone in this area," said Verma. "And everyone feels better when they come here."
Many programs are available to members and non-members of the temple. Each Saturday and Sunday morning from 7am - 9am, there are free yoga classes, and they are open to anyone. For the student members, there are test preparation courses, study groups and tutoring available. The Durga Temple also has its own Cub Scout group, which is also open to anyone.
