Founded in 1973, the Washington State Gambling Commission is the second oldest gambling regulatory agency worldwide. It is a law enforcement, licensing and regulatory agency that has the responsibility and authority to regulate gambling in Washington. The agency specializes in a variety of activities, such as conducting criminal background and on-site spot checks and in-depth record reviewing. The Washington State Gambling Commission also investigates crimes, such as theft, cheating and bookmaking that include accepting bets on sporting events and charging a fee on losing bets. In addition, it is responsible for investigating Internet gambling and animal fights, such as dog fights that involve betting. The agency is located in Lacey, Wash.
