Founded in 1934, Association of Washington Cities is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan corporation that represents Washington s cities and towns before the state legislature, the state executive branch and other regulatory agencies. AWC focuses its work in five service areas, including legislative representation, educational training, publications and resources and technical assistance in personnel and labor relations, energy, transportation, budgeting, planning, risk management and employee wellness. It also provides member programs such as municipal liability and property insurance, employee drug and alcohol testing and employee benefits. AWC provides leadership to enhance the capacity of local officials, continually develop organized channels of communication, share ideas, information, services and technology and assit cities and towns in anticipating and managing change. The company is located in Olympia, Wash.
