Salem High School is governed by the Virginia Beach City School System. It serves more than 1,500 students in grades nine through 12. Located in Virginia Beach, Va., the school offers a broad curriculum that includes English, mathematics, science, social studies and physical education. Additionally, it offers advanced-placement courses in subjects, such as English and composition, literature and composition, the United States history, government, psychology, the European history, biology, physics, chemistry, calculus, statistics, art history, studio art, French, Spanish, German and Latin. The school also provides a variety of alternative educational programs through the Advanced Technology Center, the Technical and Career Education Center and the Virginia Beach Central Academy. Salem High School has a more than 250,000-square-foot building facility that includes nearly 85 classrooms. Its facility also includes an auditorium, lecture hall and gymnasium.
