Founded in 1959, Hampton Roads Academy (HRA) is a secondary college-preparatory school for boys and girls. Based in Newport News, Va., the academy prepares students in pre kindergarten through grade 12. It curriculum comprises performing arts, math, science, English, visual arts, social studies and foreign language. Hampton Roads Academy also organizes numerous athletic activities for its students to participate. The academy offers visual arts programs that include ceramics, photography, advanced studio art, intermediate studio art, as well as advanced placement studio art drawing and 2-D design.
