Located right across from the George Mason Prince William County Campus, the Commonwealth of Virginia Forensic Science Department, otherwise known as the Department of Forensic Science (DFS), is a forensic laboratory system.
Serving all state and local law enforcement agencies, medical examiners and commonwealth's attorneys in Virginia, DFS's examiners properly analyze evidence, interpret results and provide expert testimony, all while providing any technical assistance and training necessary. The Department has more than 300 employees and is headed by the director and deputy director at the central laboratory in Richmond.
