The University of Tennessee Space Institute, located in Tullahoma, Tenn., is a graduate education and research institution. UTSI was established in 1964 as part of The University of Tennessee and it has become a recognized institution for graduate study and research in engineering, physics, mathematics and aviation systems, and has made contributions at the local, state, national and global levels. UTSI supports the Arnold Engineering Development Center in maintaining advanced expertise in both technical and managerial ranks. More than 500 AEDC employees have earned graduate degrees at the institute, including over 40 doctorates. UTSI serves the Tennessee industry by offering an off-campus master s degree program in engineering management at industrial locations. In addition, it offers a degree program in aviation systems at naval bases in Maryland and California, primarily to Navy test pilots.
