Dr. Cardella, originally from New Jersey (the Jersey Shore), graduated Magna Cum Laude with honors in biology for research in molecular biology, examining antibiotic resistance. She was also a Marquis Scholar, the college's highest academic scholarship. Her residency at Carolinas Medical Center included research in the gynecology oncology division for research focusing on catheter use in peritoneal chemotherapy for ovarian malignancy. Dr. Cardella is married to husband Marc, who works in finance, and has two daughters, Tallon and Riley. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, watching Panthers and Wake Forest football and being active in her church. She enjoys her community in the Elizabeth neighborhood.
