Built on the site of the Downs Family Farm, the Downs Family Recreation Park includes baseball diamonds, a playground and soccer fields. The site was farmed from 1684 through 1984. It was given to Southampton Village by the descendants of Lewis E. Downs, the mayor from 1933 till 1937.
In 1995, the baseball fields were dedicated as the James Allan Cameron Little League Stadium. The late Allan Cameron was a Southampton Village stalwart, with a hand in the Little League and many other community organizations.
The playground is designed for 2- to 12-years-olds.
The park may be used with permission from the Southampton Village Parks Department.
To get to the park, turn south onto Flying Point Road from Hampton Road or Montauk Highway, and follow the signs. The park entrance will be on the right, before Downs Path.
