Channing Daughters' Winery co-founder Walter Channing planted the first Chardonnay vines on his Bridgehampton farm in 1982. In the decades since, the vineyard has evolved to include interesting varieties of grapes such as Tocai Friulano, Muscat Ottonel, Malvasia, and Pinot Bianco — grapes rarely found anywhere else on the East End — on 25 picturesque acres on the South Fork and several more on the North Fork. Many of Channing Daughters' methods of making wine date back to ancient times, when all grapes were picked and punched down by hand. The winery's quaint tasting room and outdoor patio include sculptures and artwork by Mr. Channing, who also runs a venture capital business.
