Water Quality Programs are offered by the water division of the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, which is administered by the State of Alaska. The division establishes standards for water cleanliness. It regulates discharges to waters and wetlands. The division also provides financial assistance for water and wastewater facility construction and water body assessment and remediation. It trains, certifies and assists system operators, as well as monitors water quality. The division administers the Village Safe Water program, which allocates and distributes the funds for sanitation facilities. It also administers operator training and certification, municipal loan and remote maintenance worker programs.
