History
Marshfield Agricultural and Horticultural Society began in 1867 and runs the fairgrounds, the farmers' market and other agricultural events. The Farmers' Market is iconically set here as this is where farmers would bring their goods to sell their goods and compete for prizes (like they still can at the Marshfield Fair). What began as a handful of vendors in the side lot in the summer of 2006 has turned into a 35-50 vendor weekly community event celebrating local food, neighbors, agriculture and fun and a monthly winter gathering too. Often in the summer farm animals visit, tractors are on display, and free activities teach about agriculture or food. This market aims to be very friendly, extremely green (see our green packaging & recycling requirements) and a terrific resource for families and friends to enjoy extremely fresh local goods.
