D.E.A.F. provides independent living services and programs. The organization is founded by Deaf leaders from the National Association of the deaf and the Massachusetts State Association of the Deaf. It has been serving the Boston Metropolitan community since 1977. D.E.A.F. offers information and referrals for advocacy, skills training, peer counseling and technical assistance. The organization s Deafblind Community Access Network, established in 2001, conducts community, educational, recreational, religious and cultural events. The organization receives funds from the United Way of Massachusetts Bay. It additionally provides continuous education classes for the deaf and hard of hearing community in a variety of subjects. D.E.A.F maintains its corporate headquarters in Allston, Mass.
