Hy-Line International was the first of the modern layer genetics companies to incorporate hybridization into its commercial breeding program. The result was that Hy-Line International geneticists developed the first hybrid egg-laying chicken, which happened more than 60 years ago. The poultry breeding company uses genetic selection, statistical analysis, blood typing and other genetic innovations to engineer genetic superiority and consistency from bird-to-bird, variety-to-variety and generation-to-generation. Hy-Line International s products include the Hy-Line W-36, Hy-Line Brown and Hy-Line W-98. The Hy-Line W-36 is an egg layer that lays dozens of strong-shelled eggs on minimum feed intake, making it the industry s lowest cost producer. The Hy-Line Brown produces more than 320 brown eggs by 74 weeks of age and peaks in the mid-90s. The Hy-Line W-98 comes into lay with large eggs and quickly reaches optimum egg size. The Hy-Line W-98 produces more than 240 eggs by 60 weeks.
