Founded in 1841, Punahou School is a coeducational college preparatory day school located in Honolulu that serves over 3,500 students in kindergarten through grade 12. Its academic curriculum includes classes in English, science, social studies, mathematics and foreign languages. Additionally, the school offers classes in physical education, and visual and performing arts. Its art program includes classes in dance, music and theatrical performances. The athletics department offers a variety of sports activities, such as volleyball, cheerleading, wrestling, cross country, golf, gymnastics, tennis and softball. In addition, it offers basketball, swimming, water polo, soccer, and track and field. The library provides various resources that include magazines, newspapers, electronic reference books and Internet access. Punahou School is divided into the junior school for kindergarten through grade eight and an academy for grades nine through 12.
