Located on South Milledge Avenue, the Lambda Sigma chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi emphasizes dignity and genuine sisterhood among its members. Founded in 1897 at Barnard College, it now has 178 national chapters and more than 123,000 sisters worldwide. The girls support charitable groups such as ugaMIRACLE, Relay for Life, Alternative Spring Break, Athens Regional Hospital, YMCA, Habitat For Humanity and mentoring troops. Alpha Omicron Pi organizes a 5k called "Run for the Roses" that supports Arthritis Research. In 2001, the Lambda Sigma chapter was recognized as Alpha Omicron Pi's top chapter internationally.
