The Leesburg Police Department of Leesburg, Fla., is a very progressive agency that employs more than 70 sworn officers and 30-plus civilians. The department is the largest municipal agency in Lake County, Fla., and often sets the trends and standards for law enforcement within the county. The department is divided into three divisions: road patrol, criminal investigations and support services. Within the divisions, there are various specialized units including motor patrol, special weapons and tactics, narcotics/vice unit, school resource, code enforcement and animal control. The road patrol division of the Leesburg Police Department consists of 40-plus officers, five corporals, four sergeants, two lieutenants and one major whose primary function is answering calls for service within the community. The department is located in Leesburg, Fla.
