Founded in 1925, the Hialeah Fire Department is an ISO-rated class one fire department that provides fire protection and fire fighting personnel and equipment, emergency medical service, water rescue, hazardous material response teams and a variety of inspection services to industrial, commercial and residential property owners and citizens of Hialeah, Fla. The department is divided into five divisions: rescue and emergency medical services, fire prevention, logistics and emergency management, support services and training. Fire rescue operations personnel are assigned to 24-hour shifts working a 48-hour workweek. The department s nearly 300 member staff includes more than 160 paramedics, nearly 90 trained emergency medical technicians and approximately 30 civilian personnel.

Apart from the water department, the city of Pompano Beach, Fla., operates a number of other departments, such as animal control, public works and building maintenance. The public works department maintains and constructs city streets, storm drains, catch basins and sidewalks. It is also responsible for the maintenance of waterways, medians, parks and playgrounds. Residents are welcome to file reports in the Cocnut Creek Police Station in downtown Coconut Creek.
