The American Association of University Women is a nonprofit organization that has been an advocate for women s rights since 1881. The university has more than 100,000 members, over 1,300 branches, and 500 college and university partners. It deals in various women s issues, including the fight for pay equity, women s right to vote, and legislation that protects women at home, in schools and in the workplace. The center provides research on several topics, such as women and higher education, sexual harassment and workplace equity. It has an educational foundation that provides funds to advance education, research and self-development for women and to foster equity and positive societal change. The American Association of University Women is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
