The Groton town Planning and Development Office assists the town manager and various land use commissions, and includes four divisions: planning, inspection services, community development and economic development.
The planning division deals with matters such as subdivision reviews, environmental planning and special permit applications. Inspection services scrutinizes construction plans to make sure they comply with state and town building regulations. The office also handles complaints about building and zoning violations.
Community development administers grant programs to help residents with issues like moderately-priced housing. Economic development handles areas such as business outreach, marketing and retention.
