Dominquez Archaeological Research Group (DARG) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation established in 2003, dedicated to anthropological and archaeological research, preservation, and education in the Upper Colorado River Basin. They strive for professional excellence, scientific rigor, and the application of innovative research methods and advanced technology in archaeology and anthropology. DARG actively promotes inclusivity, diversity, and racial justice, with a zero tolerance policy towards discriminatory attitudes and behavior. They collaborate with diverse professional, institutional, and public sources to engage the community and ensure diverse voices are heard and included in all their activities.
DARG's ongoing projects include the Archaeological Reassessment of Rock Art in Canyon Pintado National Historic District, the Ute Trails Project, the Colorado Wickiup Project, and the Western Colorado Bison Project. They offer an Adopt-an-Archaeologist program, allowing individuals and families to support real archaeology in western Colorado and be directly involved in the discoveries made by DARG field researchers. By adopting an archaeologist, supporters contribute to the funding of ongoing projects and the preservation of western Colorado's archaeological resources.
