History
Shri Brahmanada Sarasvati Udasina (formerly known as Rammurti S. Mishra, M.D.) is the founder and spiritual inspiration for the Yoga Society of San Francisco, the Yoga Society of New York, Ananda Ashram in Monroe , N.Y. and many other centers of meditation throughout the world. He was a widely recognized authority on the ancient scriptures of Yoga and Vedanta, a medical doctor, scholar, prolific writer, a master of the Sanskrit language, teacher, healer and friend to all until his passing from the physical body in 1993. His timeless teachings continue to inspire us. The Yoga Society of San Francisco was incorporated in 1972 and moved to its present location in 1973. Our Cosmic Temple was dedicated in 1976. From 1978 through 1992, the Yoga Society operated the International School of Massage Therapy. From 1979 through 1983 the ashram was home to the legendary music master Swami Nadabrahmananda . We continue this tradition of offering a variety of spiritual and healing studies.

Yoga Society of San Francisco offers Free daily meditations accompanied by Vedic Fire ceremony. Sanskrit study, yoga classes, and Satsangs on yoga philosophy, as a well as workshops, cultural events, and personal mindfulness retreats. Also available Residential program and annual Yoga Teacher training.
