History
In 2012, President Wilson Mays, a community super-hero, used his own money to start the Hub City Tar Heels program. In 2018, Wilson remains a primary source of funding for the team. With Wilson's leadership and a small team of dedicated volunteers, the Hub City Tar Heels program continues to grow in popularity with each passing year. These volunteers not only coach, but teach each child the importance of dedication and teamwork. Through this process, our athletes gain confidence and self-esteem, giving them the tools and solid foundation that sets them up for success both in sports, and in life.
