The Davis Cemetery, located at Pole Line Road and East 8th Street, is a large public cemetery, open to visitors 24 hours a day (although it is not lit at night). The cemetery building is located towards the north end of the grounds, where a flag pole is found with a marker honoring veterans and a labyrinth; the office inside the building is where you schedule burials. The grounds are very well kept, with all sorts of displays and a quiet setting fitting of a proper cemetery. The oldest headstone found on the property dates to 1855. Until a few years ago, the property behind the cemetery was the city dog park, but the contract was not renewed because of tension between cemetery visitors/Davis residents and the dog park visitors.
