History
I did not take the typical route to become a personal trainer, if there is such a thing. I've always had an interest in being fit and playing sports but growing up I was overweight and out of shape due to poor lifestyle choices. My weight affected how I felt about myself throughout my teenage and young adult years because of experiences of being teased. Despite how hurtful the teasing was at the time, those experiences made me stronger and sensitive to the issue of body image and how we are all susceptible to developing a distorted view of ourselves. With an interest in how our mind affects our body, I attained my bachelors and masters degree in psychology as well as my certification as a personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). I look to help people discover their strengths and improve on their weaknesses and want to contribute to the progress of people both mentally and physically.
