Founded in 2003, Emergency Department is a part of the Emergency Medical Associates, an independent group of physicians who provide emergency services at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. The department consists of more than 30 rooms, including specialty rooms for trauma care and resuscitation, obstetric and gynecologic problems, and patients with behavioral emergencies. It also has information systems support, including a digital radiology system. The department features main treatments areas that are utilized during peak times to expedite the care of patients with less serious medical problems and injuries. Its waiting area has televisions and a vending machine. It also has a separate waiting area for children that include games, toys and books. Located in Waukesha, Wis., the department has an ambulance bay that features a decontamination area to decontaminate an entire ambulance and rescue vehicles in the event of a chemical exposure.
