History

Union Star started as a co-op in 1904, in 1911 Henry Metzig purchased the factory from the co-op. He operated it for a number of years. Then his daughter Edna and Son-in-law Eugene Lehmann operated Union Star until 1980 when Dave and Jan Metzig purchased it.

Union Star is a small family owned cheese factory, which has been handcrafting cheese from local milk for over 100 years.
