History
It was the children of the community who felt that it was important to have the house become a museum. They contributed pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters and encouraged adults to contribute as well. The house was purchased and needed major renovation to restore it to the 1917 setting. The home was built in 1894 in the Queen Anne style and you can see furnishings of the time period including an ice box, Hoosier cupboard, wood-burning cook stove, fainting couch and more. Since 1997, we've welcomed many visitors from all over the country, as well as other countries. Rascal was translated into 26 different languages. It was made into a cartoon in Japan and we have many Japanese people who travel to the U.S. and make sure they come to Edgerton to see Rascal and Sterling's home! When in Edgerton, you can visit sites from the story including Saunders Creek, Lake Koshkonong and Indianford. Plan to visit. You will enjoy!
