The Shorewood Recreation and Community Services Department provides community services and learning opportunities through recreational, educational and fitness programs to the residents of the Shorewood in Wisconsin. It operates a fitness center equipped with strength and cardiovascular equipment for students in grades seven and eight. The department runs a supported summer playground program to provide a safe play environment for children with cognitive disabilities in grades two through six. The Shorewood Recreation and Community Services Department conducts kayaking, canoeing, racing, dancing, gaming, cooking and swimming activities. Its Young American Martial Arts Club program offers martial arts training to develop positive attitude, perseverance, self-confidence and self-discipline in children. The department features a boat safety course that provides classes on topics related to boats, hull designs and motors for students above 12 years. The Shorewood Recreation and Community Services Department additionally offers the Beginning Chinese program, which is an introductory Chinese language course.
