The Oshkosh Police Department is an accredited police agency that employs more than 90 sworn officers and over 35 civil employees. It promotes public safety and offers a range of law enforcement services. The department s crime prevention bureau provides public education and crime prevention services. It offers the Citizen s Police Academy, which is an educational and training program that provides instruction on several topics, including team crowd control tactics, hostage negotiations, crime scene processing, bike patrolling, and defensive and arrest tactics. The department s training division is responsible for coordinating training for the entire department. It offers Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) and McGruff Crime Dog programs. Additionally, it operates crime stoppers, gun safety, and neighborhood, business and maritime watch programs. The Oshkosh Police Department is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies and the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group. It is located in Oshkosh, Wis.
