The Office of the Comptroller administers the financial affairs, as well as exercises fiscal control over more than 40 city departments and agencies. The office is governed by the city of Milwaukee. It establishes accounting policies and procedures, as well as prepares annual financial reports. The Office of the Comptroller conducts operational, financial and legal compliance audits. The office is also engaged in the Independent financial analysis of proposed development projects. It undertakes the fiscal administration of the Community Development Block Grant program. The Office of the Comptroller produces over 190,000 payroll documents annually, as well as manages cash flow borrowings.
