Kanwar A. Singh, founder of The Eye Centers of Racine and Kenosha, is a leader in the field of ophthalmology. Dr. Singh began practicing ophthalmology in Racine, Wisconsin in 1971 and performed the state's first cataract surgery with lens implantation in 1975. He introduced outpatient cataract surgery with lens implantation in Southeastern Wisconsin in 1983. In 1992, Dr. Singh performed Wisconsin's first Automated Lamellar Keratoplasty vision correction surgery. Dr. Singh has pioneered several ophthalmic surgeries for Racine and Kenosha counties, performing the area's first Radial Keratotomy vision correction surgery, the first single stitch cataract surgery with lens implantation, and the first no-stitch cataract surgery with lens implant. In recent years, Dr. Singh has been credited with introducing both topical anesthesia cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation and cataract surgery with multifocal intraocular lens implantation.
