Memorial Union is a part of The Wisconsin Union, which is a social, cultural and recreational center within the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Founded in 1907, The Wisconsin Union serves as a daily gathering place for staff, students, visitors, and community and faculty members. It is also the social education division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The union offers students the opportunity to cultivate interest in arts and develop leadership skills. It organizes various types of volunteer and educational trips and coordinates noncredit classes in a variety of current topics. The union also maintains a theater and arts and crafts studio. It houses a games room for playing pool, air hockey, video games and bowling. In addition, The Wisconsin Union provides outdoor games equipment rental and travel services. The union operates a store that offers school supplies, greeting cards, snacks, newspapers and gift items.
