The La Crosse Fire Department is responsible for providing fire rescue, prevention and protection services to residents in La Crosse, Wis. The fire department maintains more than 90 firefighters and emergency medical technicians. It provides fire suppression, emergency medical, and water and ice rescue services. The La Crosse Fire Department conducts juvenile fire safety education programs and provides defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation training to the public. Its technical rescue team specializes in undertaking trench, confined space, structural collapse, and high- and low-angle rope rescue operations. In addition, the fire department is responsible for conducting fire prevention inspections in public buildings. The La Crosse Fire Department maintains an office in La Crosse, Wis.
