Franklin Elementary School is a public school located in Wausau, Wis., and is part of the Wausau School District. Established in 1966, it enrolls more than 350 students from kindergarten through grade five. The curriculum includes a wide range of subjects, including reading, writing, art, music, mathematics, and computer science. Parent involvement, through its family literacy nights and family math nights, is a major support for its students. It provides a variety of other interventions to assist students in having a successful school experience, including initiatives, such as its afterschool tutoring program, small personal improvement guidance groups, the Kronenberg student behavior management program and proactive student assistance teams. Franklin Elementary School also encourages parents to be involved on an informal basis through classroom visits and field trip participations and community activities, such as Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
