History
In 1939, Olav and Mildred Fosdal purchased the Home Bakery from Hans Romnes, which got its name because the Romnes family lived in the upstairs. The Home Bakery then became known as Fosdal Home Bakery. After Olav and Mildred's son, Gerry, graduated high school, he became a full time employee at the bakery. He married Beverly in 1963 and they took over the business in 1976. Gerry was in charge of production, and Beverly handled the bookkeeping. The Fosdals added the coffee shop and many wholesale accounts in 1978. In 2005, Joseph Crubaugh, a third-generation baker from Dodgeville, WI, purchased the bakery after many years of working for Gerry and Bev. Today, Joe runs the bakery with help from his niece, Amanda.
Specialties
We're best known for our donuts (HUGE, fresh, and made exactly the same as when your grandparents bought them). If you've got a sweet tooth, this is the place; we offer homemade cookies, cakes, and pie as well. If you're looking for something savory, we have a wide selection of fresh-baked breads and buns, or stop in and get a bowl of soup and sandwich for lunch! We're open every day, but we live for special occasions; call us about your party, wedding, or other get-together and we'll help you select a delicious dessert menu.
