Fennig Plumbing and Heating is a family owned business founded in 1913. Charles Fennig, not wanting to "under take" his father's position, started his plumbing business in the basement of his father's shop: Fennig Funeral Home on 5th and Lincoln. From 1915 to 1990 Fennig Plumbing was located on the corner of 13th and Lincoln on Milwaukee's southside. The business was moved in 1990 to its present location on 68th and Mitchell in West Allis. Located right across from the old Briggs and Stratton factory, Fennig Plumbing is located near the Six Point development project and the West Allis Farmers Market. Son, Oliver, joined the business in 1962 and older brother Ted, jumped on board in 1968. Charles' grandson Louie entered the business as an apprentice in 1982. Louie, wanting to expand the business took all the necessary DILHR and EPA required courses and has since added air conditioning to the company's field of expertise. Both Oliver and Ted retired from the business in 1995, leaving Louie alone to carry on the Fennig-family tradition of excellent service. Today Louie is here giving his common sense approach, personal touch and value to replace fixtures, install water heaters, cool down your home or heat up your basement. Custom designed and built trucks help to streamline service by having many different parts and tools available at the ready. The West Allis shop is organized in a way so that things can found easily and quickly along with several specialized pieces of equipment for bending sheet metal, pipes, etc.
