Carmel of the Sacred Heart is a monastery on Laurel Ave. between Prospect Park and Webster Park. Roman Catholic nuns live a devoted, faithful life here. The monastery was dedicated in 1963 and named for the heart of God. Today, the Carmelite nuns live a simple life of meditation, study, worship, prayer and thanksgiving. Those interested in living this sort of life must be single women between 20 and 50, a practicing Roman Catholic and sincerely dedicated to a living a prayerful life, among other requirements.
