Biological Systems Engineering educates people to meet the engineering, management, technical and service needs of the agriculture and food industries. It offers various undergraduate programs in the areas of natural resources, food, and machinery and structural systems. It also administers the English as a Second Language program and provides bilingual sessions. Biological Systems Engineering conducts research in a variety of fields, including structures, construction management, machinery, harvesting, electrical power, electronics, biological engineering, milking equipment and stray voltage. Additionally, it offers an extension program that focuses on environmental quality, farmstead engineering, youth development, and sustainable and precision agriculture. It is a department operated by the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which also maintains several other departments. Biological Systems Engineering is located in Madison, Wis.
