History
Originally named for what was the main intersection in the fledgling city of La Crosse in what is believed to be the early 1900s. An arterial was a common term used to describe the major thorough fares of young growing towns. The Arterial has been a family owned La Crosse tradition for over 100 years, dating back to pre-prohibition. Historians recall The Arterial being a tavern before prohibition and a general store, seamstress shop, and more during the dry years. From post prohibition through where you'll hopefully visit soon, The Arterial has operated as La Crosse's favorite local bar and grill. The building we currently occupy was constructed in 2003 and remains under constant improvements to assure this local treasure remains with us for another century.
