Incorporated in 1972 as Valley Community Mental Health Services, it does business as Valley HealthCare System, a behavioral health program. The center has received license from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. Its developmental disabilities division serves individuals who have mental retardation or other severe, chronic disability. Based in Fairmont, W.Va., Valley HealthCare System's crisis services comprises three different components of crisis care and intervention: crisis clinic, crisis team and crisis residential unit (CRU).
