The Raleigh County Community Action Association is a private, nonprofit organization that works to empower individuals and families to reach social and economic self-sufficiency levels. The organization assists communities with the identification and elimination of the causes of poverty. It manages Pine Haven Homeless Shelter, which offers case management, crisis intervention and counseling services to men, women and children. The Raleigh County Community Action Association provides a child mentor program. The organization s Head Start program offers services to more than 350 children at various locations, including Ghent Elementary School and Maxwell Hill Elementary School in Raleigh County in West Virginia. In addition, the Raleigh County Community Action Association operates shuttle buses and provides transportation services.
