Established in 1965 as Mingo County Economic Opportunity Commission, Mingo Community Action Partnership is a private nonprofit organization that provides various community-based services for low-income individuals and families. It offers the Head Start program for children up to 5 years of age. The organization provides opportunities for physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children, as well as offers educational services. Mingo Community Action Partnership maintains senior citizen centers that feature computer laboratories with internet access. Additionally, it provides weatherization and personal care services. The organization operates more than four federal and state grants and has over 130 employees. Mingo Community Action Partnership serves nearly 3,800 individual annually and maintains the Harry L Joyce Senior center in Williamson, W.Va.
