Norwest was retained by a leading Mongolian coal producer as coal preparation advisor for the development of a US$30 million coal handling and preparation facility. This facility is designed to ultimately process 15 million tonnes per year of high-quality coking coal mined in Mongolia's world-class Tavan Tolgoi basin. Norwest managed the comprehensive washability and carbonization testing programs and developed the original process flowsheet design using process simulation software. Based on this work, Norwest engineers prepared plant, equipment, and systems specifications as part of the client's efforts to engage a turn-key engineering, procurement, construction, and management firm. The project is currently under construction and Norwest continues to act as the client's owner's engineer for this project.
