Cabell-Huntington Health Department aims to promote health, prevent disease and educate the community on public health issues. The department is committed to assessing the community's health needs, forming policies to address those needs, assuring the public accessibility to proper health care, and abating those environmental hazards which effect the health of the community. Its environmental health department provides services, such as food safety, sewage, water testing, and sewage. The public health nursing provides immunization clinic, infection control, breast and survical cancer screening program, family planning, HIV testing, pregnancy testing, and blood titers improve immunity. The department also offers epidemiology, a branch of public health that deals with the study of the causes, distribution and control of disease in populations.
