Established in 1936, the Sanitary Board of Bluefield provides municipal wastewater collection and treatment services by operating gravity sewers and force mains and treatment facilities. It finances, constructs, operates and maintains a sewerage system in various areas of Tazewell County, Va., Mercer County, W.Va., and the city of Bluefield, W.Va. Its sewerage system includes more than 350 miles of sewer lines, over 15 sanitary lift stations and two wastewater treatment plants. The Sanitary Board of Bluefield treats an average of 3.5 million gallons of wastewater a day and serves nearly 8,500 customers. It is located in Bluefield, W.Va.
