History
Around 1869, Benedict Haid built an ample house of hand-hewn timbers, with large rooms and four stone fireplaces for his wife Margaret and nine children. He built it to last, and so it has, as the heart of a farm that sustained several generation, and then as the lodge of Camp Wheelgate where hundreds of Girl Scouts learned to love the outdoors. In 1985, the farm was purchased by a local businessman and renovated to be the lovely retreat it is today. This is a local, family-owned business.
