HistoryChartered on January 3, 1936 as Colgasco Employees Federal Credit Union. In 1974 Colgasco merged with Charleston Group Credit Union and continued to serve the employees of Columbia Gas as well as their family members. The name was changed to Star USA Federal Credit Union in June of 1996 to make the Credit Union more visible to current and potential members. In September 1999, the Credit Union's charter was revised to include those residents who live, work, worship, or attend school in Kanawha and Putnam Counties. In April 2001,the charter was expanded to allow the credit union to offer services to identical groups in Raleigh County. Fayette and Nicholas counties were added to th list of served communities in May 2001. Expansion continued in Spring of 2002 with the addition of Cabell County. A merger with the Huntington VA FCU in 2004 allows residents in Wayne County and Lawerence County (Ohio) to enjoy the services of Star USA.
