History
Work Force Development Center (WFDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1991 by a handful of parents, teachers, and community leaders wanting to help at-risk high school youth build bridges between high school and a more secure and promising future. The purpose was, and still remains to this day, to enable students who are in danger of high school dropout to graduate from high school and help them develop critical skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for success as they enter the workforce. Our aerospace assembly vocational training program offers a critically important combination of individualized support and skill development for students. Through our program, students learn specific job skills and develop a familiarity with traditional work environments. Equally as important, however, is the integration of solid work habits and ethics that are applicable to current and future educational and employment success.
Specialties
Founded in 1991, Work Force Development Center a nonprofit 501 (c)(3), is a vocational training organization specializing in preparing at-risk and disadvantaged high school juniors and seniors, for their respective journeys into the future work force. Work Force Development Center currently works in conjunction with 21 Snohomish, North King, and Island County high schools in providing a safe and structured work environment that allows students the opportunity to develop skills within the assembly/manufacturing fields that they may not have had otherwise. Work Force Development Center works in successful and continual partnership, providing significant outsourcing needs with several major companies in the aviation, wire harness and automotive fields. We are in constant search for more companies to add to our current customer base. Being that we are self supporting, Work Force Development Center's student count is directly related to the amount of work we have at any given time.
