*With the safety of our staff and visitors in mind, we have made the difficult decision to keep the Renewable Energy Center closed for the remainder of 2020. The Wild Horse Wind Facility will remain open for recreation with a free access permit which can be filled out online, and visitors can continue to explore the exhibits outside of the Renewable Energy Center. Set high on a ridge, the Renewable Energy Center provides visitors with an up-close look at the facility's 149 wind turbines, as well as 360 degree views of Mount Rainier, Mount Adams, Mount Hood and the Columbia River Basin. Take a tour, or explore the educational displays to learn more about wind and solar technology, as well as the area's unique natural history. Outdoor trails lead to a solar array, blade, turbine generator, gearbox and additional displays. Daily Tours at 10am and 2pm will take you into the base of a wind turbine (Closed toe shoes and signed liability form required. Hard hat and safety glasses provided).
